Q: How does Mobile Deposit protect my security?
A: Mobile Deposit utilizes password protection, Internet firewalls, and 128-bit encryption. It is as secure as our Internet Banking.
Q: Are there limits on the amount I can deposit?
A: Yes. You can deposit $2,500 per day, $5,000 per week, and $10,000 per month.
Q: How soon are my funds available?
A: Funds are generally available the next business day, but an extended hold may be placed on the deposit if required.
Q: How should I take a picture of the check with my device?
A: For best results we recommend taking the picture of the check in a well-lit environment against a dark background. Your check will need to lay flat, preferably without any folds or bends.
Q: How should I endorse my check?
A: We require each item to be endorsed with the signature of the payee and the words “For Mobile Deposit at LNFCU.” A check payable to two payees must be endorsed by both payees. If the check is payable to you or your joint owner, either of you can endorse it. If the check is made payable to you and your joint owner, both of you must endorse the check.
If the check follows a special endorsement or has been transferred to a specific person or organization. The original payee must sign the check, add the phrase “Pay to the Order of…” and include the name of the specified party. The specified party must sign the check and then write the words “For Mobile Deposit at LNFCU”.
Q: Why must the check be endorsed with the words "For Mobile Deposit at LNFCU"?
A: This specific endorsement ensures that checks deposited through Mobile Deposit will not be deposited again at an L&N Federal Credit Union branch or at another financial institution. It is one of many security measures we have put in place to protect business and consumer accounts from theft and fraud. Checks that are not endorsed as specified will be rejected by L&N Federal Credit Union.
Q: How long should I retain my original check? What happens if I discard the check and an issue arises?
A: For your protection, retain the original check for at least two weeks. When you are ready to discard it, write "VOID" across the face of the check and dispose of it in a way that prevents it from being presented for payment again. If an issue should arise and the original check is no longer available, please contact the issuer of the check to obtain a new copy that can be re-submitted for deposit.
